La Verna: the sanctuary of St Francis
On Mount La Verna, St Francis received the stigmata. The Sanctuary, perched on the rock and surrounded by beech woods, is one of Italy’s most visited Franciscan sites and the final stage of the Way of St Francis from Florence.
